I'm in a planting season - meaning, I'm taking care of three stunning plants that I'm determined to keep alive. It's been about four months now, and I'm happy to report that these little beauties only have some slight brown marks—no major signs of wilting or death. That's definitely a win in my book.
One thing I absolutely love about these plants is the gorgeous gold pots that house them. Not only do these pots look amazing, but it provides a nurturing environment for my plants to flourish. But here's the thing- one day the beautiful gold pots will not be enough to support the growth of my plants. One day, my plants will need new, maybe even nicer pots to grow in.
You see, plants are wired to grow. The small pots that once worked just fine won't be able to handle the growth and fullness of these plants forever. Sooner or later, they'll need to be replanted in larger containers that can handle their continuous growth. We're just like these plants. We're designed to grow and thrive. We're designed to flourish.
Sometimes, as we go through life, we start to realize that our current environment can't support our progress anymore. We may realize we've outgrown it, and it no longer provides us with the nourishment and support we need to keep blooming. If I kept my beautifully growing plants cramped in those smaller containers - I'd actually be hindering its growth. Similarly, when we stay in smaller environments, we hinder our own growth. So, if you ever find yourself feeling stuck or sensing that you've outgrown your current surroundings, ask the Lord for guidance and wisdom. Ask Him where He wants to plant you next.
It's perfectly natural to crave a bigger pot, a bigger space where you can continue to flourish. Embrace the urge to grow, and trust that the Lord will lead you to the perfect place for the next stage of your journey.
"May the LORD cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." -Psalm 115:14-15
Rosie, you are speaking to my heart every day. It’s amazing how God does that.
